Every destination is associated with different specific festivals unique to that region. Alicante too has its own festivals to boast of. It is celebrated from the first of May to the third of May. Every summer there is a music festival which begins in July and last up till August. It takes place next to the port and has many performances by international artists in various kinds of arts, ballets and many different types of Displays.
The moors and Christians festival is celebrated to mark the winning back of Spain from the Arabs .It is steeped rich in religion but as a tradition involves a lot of street gaieties as well. This festival is a symbolism of friendship. Everyone gathers in the centre of town to welcome the Christians and moors who are dressed up in periodical attires. This is the symbolism of the end of the Arabic rule. There are a lot of comical performances and not to mention the sumptuous food and drink which is provided.
